Caroline Welch

Since starting her career at Reading Scientific Services Ltd (RSSL), Caroline Welch has focused on the particle characterisation of food, pharmaceutical and personal care products, gaining experience through the analysis of a wide range of materials for the diverse client base of a leading CRO. This role provided an excellent introduction to the industrial applications of particle characterisation and opened her eyes to the different traditions and approaches within each sector. It also allowed her to combine her chemistry education (Imperial College London) with more applied scientific work.

She now works at Mondelēz International, where she develops and applies a variety of particle characterisation and other analytical techniques to support research, quality control, process monitoring and troubleshooting—all with the aim of improving products and processes across the company’s global snack brands.

Having previously attended The Forge event virtually, Caroline took the opportunity to join the committee when the next member vacancy became available. The PCIG committee is a fantastic group representing an even broader range of particle characterisation expertise and applications. For her, it is a great way to broaden horizons, share knowledge and learn from industries beyond her own.
