Rhys Kelham

FT-IR & FT-IR Microscopy Application Specialist UK/IE, Perkin Elmer

Rhys graduated from the University of Reading with a Masters in Chemistry. After graduating, he spent 3 years working in the packaging industry using FT-IR, FTIR microscopy and SEM as a QC and investigative tools as a part of the European quality laboratory. In 2017, Rhys joined PerkinElmer as an FTIR application specialist where he utilizes PerkinElmer’s FTIR portfolio to enable customers to gain a better understanding of the materials they are working with to solve the challenges that their businesses face across a wide range of application markets such as polymer, pharma, food and industrial segments that require material characterisation. In his spare time Rhys trains calisthenics and ballroom and Latin dancing to keep fit.

Presentation:

Expanding Horizons with FTIR Spectroscopy in Modern Science and Industry

Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy is a versatile and widely used tool for material characterization, but certain complex material challenges require more than what routine FTIR can offer. To fully capture the intricacies of advanced materials, integrating FTIR with complementary analytical techniques has emerged as a powerful approach for non-routine analysis. This presentation will delve into how multi-technique integration enhances the capabilities of FTIR, enabling deeper and more precise analysis of diverse and challenging materials.
