George Platt

George is a Research Formulation Scientist at Johnson Matthey, supporting the development of sustainable technologies to enable the net zero transition. He holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of York, specialising in organometallic catalysis, and a Master’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Sheffield, where he worked on the development of a pH‑sensitive micellar delivery system.

In his current role, George applies particle characterisation techniques to enhance understanding of material performance and processing behaviour. As a particles champion, his interests include particle size and shape analysis, the application of new and emerging characterisation technologies, and the robust statistical treatment and interpretation of particle characterisation data.

As a committee member, George is keen to promote active engagement within the community and to provide a platform that enables collaboration across academia and industry to advance the field.
