Pantelis “Leon” Xydias

Pantelis ‘Leon’ Xydias is a distinguished Senior Pharmaceutical Scientist with an extensive background in Materials and Bioinorganic Chemistry. He earned his PhD in Materials Chemistry from the University of Crete, Greece, in 2014, and holds an MSc in Bioinorganic Chemistry. Leon’s academic and professional journey is marked by significant contributions to the fields of gas adsorption and separation, particle size and shape characterization, and X-ray diffraction, among others.

Following his doctoral studies, Leon worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Glasgow alongside Professor Ross Forgan, focusing on the use of Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) for drug delivery. His postdoctoral work has been instrumental in advancing the application of MOFs, showcasing their potential to revolutionize drug delivery systems with improved efficacy and targeted therapy.

In his role as a Senior Pharmaceutical Scientist, Leon continues to drive innovation in Particle and Surface Area Characterization, leveraging his expertise to enhance the formulation and characterization of pharmaceutical products. His commitment to excellence ensures that these products meet the highest standards of safety and efficacy, thereby improving patient outcomes.

Leon’s dedication to advancing healthcare is evident in his continuous engagement with cutting-edge scientific research and his active contributions to professional communities such as the Royal Society of Chemistry (Particle Characterization Interest Group), The Royal Society of Biology, the Swedish Chemical Society (Svenska Kemisamfundet), and the Union of Greek Chemists (Enosi Ellinon Himikon). Outside the lab, he is passionate about exploring new advancements in material chemistry, rugby, gaming, and sharing his knowledge with peers.
