Luis Salinas-Farran

Luis’s research focuses on 4D sample characterisation, process design and optimisation, and reaction kinetics and thermodynamics.

He has developed methodologies to quantify the chemical and mechanical performance of processes by combining non-destructive imaging techniques with modelling and simulation for process design and optimisation.

His work spans areas such as grain depletion, surface exposure and preferential breakage in hydrometallurgical and minerals processing; pore development in porous media; and the degradation of energy storage devices.

Overall, his research aims to address real-world challenges and drive advancements in technology and sustainability. He is motivated by the potential impact of his work on strengthening the supply chain of critical metals essential for supporting the green energy transition.
